Perambalur District came in to existence after trifurcation of Tiruchirappalli district with effect from 30.09.1995.(Hamlet villages of Elambalur are Indira Nagar, MGR nagar, Mahathmaganthi nagar, Samathuvapuram & Nethaji Nagar) All these Hamlet villages were newly formed and developed by Mr. M. RAJARAM B. com, who served twice as president Of Elambalur Panchayat from 1986-2001. He also served as Chairman of Perambalur panchayat union from 2001-2006. Today Elambalur panchayat has highest population, and has well-developed peoples. SIDCO industrial Estate is situated in this village.
